The latest thai film in local cinemas - ATM

Film - opens in cinemas on 29th Mar 2012

A malfunctioning ATM in Chonburi that's disbursing too much money is in the backdrop of GTH studio's latest romantic comedy ATM Er Rak Error (ATM เออรัก เออเร่อ).

Sua - played by Chantawit Thanasevee who was from Hello Stranger previously, stars as an employee of the automated teller's bank. His girlfriend "Jib"- played by Preechaya Pongthananikorn, works for the bank too, and they have to keep that a secret because it's against their company's non fraternization policy.

Five years into their relationship and as the pressure escalates to keep the relationship under wraps - they agree to get married, but only if one of them resigns, so they race to be the first to fix the broken ATM situation. Whoever gets to it first and recovers all of the $130,000 baht can keep their job.
With neither agreeing to put their marriage before a career and resign, they make a pact that whoever is able to recover the money first gets to keep their job. Sounds simple in this small town? We'll see - literally how their game turns into a "go big" or "go home" scene.

We watch how the couple try to sabotage each other, and how their lives get entwined with the rest of the minor but pretty unforgettable characters who made extra cash out of the ATM glitch. Because humor is just such a part of the thai culture, it's no wonder the comedic sequences all fitted nicely throughout the scene. Unlike some hollywood productions, you don't feel like the thais try too hard to make you like. They just do so quite naturally :)

The whole cinema was roaring with laughter the entire evening - a sure sign that it's gonna be worth the $9 movie ticket fee on even a weekend.

    Here's the lovely trailer:

And the official soundtrack , sang by a girl called Lula - The music video is pretty cute if you asked me

5/5 - for humor and the cute cast.

Tickets sponsored by Omy.sg and Golden Village <3

    Some interesting facts

1)The rotund bank security manager - was played by Pop Calories Blah Blah, a famous thai ballad singer.
    2) It's Preechaya Pongthananikorn (Jib's) first time acting. She had to take a special acting workshop because she wasn't good at expressing myself. It was a workshop where she had to express different emotions, from screaming to laughing. The class was so stressful that she claims to have broke some facial capillaries! (I was surprised, because I felt she did quite a good job)
3)The OST song has a title ‘Mong Dai Tae Ya Chob‘ translated as ‘You Can Stare But Don’t Admire'.
