YAY to perfectly sanitized tools - always a highlight for reviews of mine.

I recently popped by to the latest Pink Parlour outlet to test their underarm IPL as well as a princess manicure. And I must say I haven't stepped into such a bright pink place in a long long time (The last was my 21st birthday celebration in New Majestic Hotel's Pussy Parlour. ) and perhaps my brother's room in our old place which used to be flamingo pink before it was painted maroon.

See here at Santa grand, you can get gorgeously and hair-free over a DVD or two when you come on by. Located on 171 East Coast Road (Hello East siders!) near lots of good food like Naive, Yong's famous soon kueh, kim choo dumplings and more!

The latest outlet spans across 820 squared meters and offers a Spray Tanning Room (Which even the lead singer of BLUE would approve off. The dude actually dropped by one of the outlets for a spray tann during their recent concert in Singapore), 4 Waxing Rooms, 5 Manicure and Pedicure Seats and a Shower Facility.

Alma was my therapist for the day, she started by explaining to me the IPL procedure while her colleague Fairouz took me thought some facts and information about the usage of IPL as well as the technology that Pink parlour has adopted.

IPL is sometimes used in facials - to rejuvenate skin however Pink Parlour uses IPL for hair removal. If you are seeking or planning to go for IPL, note - you should not tweet your hair but you should shave instead. The hair shafts and roots need to be intact for this treatment to be effective.

There are a couple of steps involved

Cleansing with an alcohol swap.
Application of gel
Numbing (Pink Parlour uses ice)
IPL light 'shots' to the area
Tweezing of some hair only after treatment(or not).
Cream - to moisturize and calm your skin

And you are good to go!

What was most delightful was Pink Parlour's policy - You'll be happy to know that you can return anytime within 14days of your mani or pedi and have your chipped nail re lacquered if needed. I found that to be really thoughtful :)

SUMMMERHAVEN NAIL SPA

These are my finished nails - I did a gelish manicure with 3D art on my thumb and crystals on my ring finger. I also did a color gradation with glitter. The whole process took about an hour an a half with my hands and feet concurrently being done by 2 nail technicians.



Summer Haven Nail Spa


For my session, I chose a gelish manicure and a classic pedicure, both with 3D nail art and crystal embellishments.Ivy and Jovin at the chinasquare branch are masters of the 3D nail art!

All classic manis and pedis at summerhaven include a sea salt scrub, and moisturizer. The nail technicians also carefully use a footfile to scrub the dead skin from the soles of your feet off, taking time with this process and carefully feeling around to find the problem spots. I think the best part was the nail tools were sterilized and then packed into individual satchels for use.

I'm a total hygiene freak - especially at places as such. This puts my mind at rest so I don't have to worry about catching some weird skin ailment from someone else.

How wonderful too that the salon offers patrons a choice of a hot/cold beverage from their drink menu. How often do you come across a nail salon that offers you a drink , let alone a whole menu of it. The white chrysanthemum tea is said to be the drink of choice for clientele in the China Square area. Drinks are served with a lovely caramelized biscuit :).
