OH MY LORD, I find myself on the top spot today in terms of votes on the Miss Earth website. A big thank you to all you sweethearts who dropped me votes or have in one way or another given me so much encouragement and love : ) These votes, coupled with the support we will get on the swimsuit show and coronation night shall dictate the winner of 'Miss popularity'. It doesn't matter if I do not win in the end because all I want is for you guys to be proactive in conserving the environment. All the contestants are really beautiful and knowledgeable , I reckon we are all winners in our own right.
My friend Jackie has offered to help me take pictures during the pageant events, thank you very much. Irwan for voting so many times. Don't waste the moolah already. And all those that I didn't name.
This might almost sound like a speech.
But I've so many people to thank till date, my brother - for chauffeuring me to event venues and fittings, everyone at work for your daily "whoa miss earth ah" remarks, To my bosses for approving my leaves, khomi for your vote -- I hope you start using less tissues. Thanks also to those who like reminding me of how I sounded like Miss congeniality or captain planet with my featured quotes on the site. Mom who wanted to vote for me - apparently I told her not to. Not sure if she did tho. Dad and Mom for bringing me up in the best way possible, so that I am who I am today.
I'll stop here and save the best for last.
There's an upcoming Bikini show, *chuckles* Yes, I bet you guys are most interested in this part. I'll update you guys about the tickets. Meanwhile, anticipate the best.
The Coronation night is on the 9th of September at the Arena in Clarke Quay.

These 2 videos are all directed by James Copeman. Pretty awesome I'll say. I love the 60s/70s feel to it.

Nike+ Human Race
A big thank you to those at Nike and Nuffnang for the complimentary pass to the Nike Human Race. I've just signed myself up and will be training with whatever time I have left. Just when I thought I wasn't gonna make it for this race, I received a call from Miss Yang from nuffnang about my complimentary pass.
Now what a pleasant surprise!

rub a dub dub,
Try washing the dishes, washing the toilet,
handwashing the laundry
and then machine washing another load of laundry,
and if that's not sufficient.
Fold all the clothes from the last load.
And then pack the frigging shelve full of your brother's stuff.
All with a runny nose that started somewhere in the mid afternoon, and done right about dinner.
I am knackered as can be and my hands are dry from exposure to soap. *Sigh*
Live to die.
Pretty nasty stuff, makes you think twice about eating meat.
Well I'm by no means saying we should all turn vegan overnight. But we could eat less meat,
Meatout for 1 day a week or chose organic farmed poultry or free range chickens : )

I'm absolutely KNACKERED from those 2 hours spent wake boarding.....

Museum Musings.
For once, I must say the Singapore national museum has rather tasteful exhibits. I found myself breaking into fits of laughter with my friends the night before, while we viewed the old pictures of those daring explorers who ventured into the unknown before us. Funny how people didn't use to smile in pictures.
We had some time to watch the old black and white films from the 60s/70s which induced in me yet another bout of laughter. The scripts were inconsistent and boy was the acting exaggerated. The characters were dancing one moment and being scared silly the next by some unwelcomed spirits/ghosts, next thing you realise is that a plane starts bombing the cemetery and yet another werewolf like creature emerges, before the camera cuts back to more singing and dancing?
Green is the new black
Pictures from the coastal clean up over the weekend with the team from Miss Earth, Eco-notion magazine and also NUS.Estimate amount of trash cleared in 90mins : 1/2 a tonne
Size of the team : 35 people strong
To say the least, the whole experience was priceless. The vibrant flora and fauna at the mangrove systems are truly fascinating, I picked up countless pieces of plastic bags. A large amount of those are probably burried in the silt , so people.
Ditch the plastic bag/ carrier bags when you go shopping. You know, If you're gonna buy a small item like a can of drink, wadever would u need a bag for? :)

My colleagues are perpetually convinced that I am seeing this guy whom I've been lunching with lately. They even referred to him as my boyfriend, while my friend Andy attests that clearly, my long stint in Singleship should be broken. Suggesting i hooked up with some random at Zouk last nite. I obviously didn't.Instead, I bumped into couple of old friends, most of the guys who aren't straight, old classmates, people i've met at work and a bunch of random new friends.
It's amazing that I managed to stay sober after a fatal concoction of - Beer, vodka ribena, Chivas, yegermeister pop, cowboy, a flaming lambo, lychee martini and couple of of drinks that I haven got their names figured out.
Now, Im seriously curious about my alcohol limits. Long island tea and bacardi 151 used to do the trick.
Andy and I spoke over supper last nite, when the prata and alcohol wrecking my entire being and even serving out a 5minute bout of pain. Well. No Sweat. Anything for a friend in need.
The boy has obvious problems and clearly isn't over the last relationship. I guess in his case, it's how Love and Hate collides. Like how the Def leppard song goes.
So I got up at 3, afternoon obviously.Had lunch prepared by mommy dearest, and a generous serving of my favourite Haagen Dazs Rum and raisins. As much as I shouldn't be saying this. It's another night that's gonna be decadent. As with my carbon footprints, I like to make up for my hedonistic habits (think food and drinks) by jogging the usual 4kms by the reservoir.
I also clock a 15 minute walk to work everyday from the metro. Damn am I proud of myself.
J'adore
take that shot!

Bikini babes!

This sums up my last weekend in June.
This weekend was a sorta Whirlwind for me. Minus the usual turbulence. With Deft speed, minutes and seconds flew by and we're back to Monday.I had a fashion show at one of the malls downtown, the make-up artists were from the school of make up while JCmodels choreographed the show . It's interesting to note there was just one guy among some 7 other lady make up artists. Another photoshoot the coming week @ downtown east. I have pictures, but the usual me. I take eons to post them up yes? *laughs*
For people who love watching plays and performances. I caught "Short + Sweet Singapore" last evening @ the esplanade. Tastefully done. Hilarious dialogs, versatile actors and actresses. It's actually encouraging to see how the arts in Singapore has blossomed over the years. I just can't wait to watch Avenue Q, but sure Singapore has talent. The play directed by Pam Oie won the best play award last night. I was a belly full of laugher although on the contrary I only had dinner at about 11pm.
My only grouse was forgoing the play 'pillow man' which starred Adrian Pang and Daniel Jenkins who happens to be in Short and sweet's " I'll have that special".
oh yes, and Brangelina fans can go watch the film "WANTED". Caught it with my brother and his girl, the effects are awesome. Not forgetting the generous dose of humor littered all over the plot. And the awesome cars, Audi, corvette and more.
Angelina plays Fox, this super sexy assassin who blows your mind with how she effortlessly shoots down her subjects in high heels and her compromising positions in the race car scenes *laughs*... (well you know, I dont want to spoil the plot)..so go watch it yourself!

as I sit here, with the sombre night skies in view. Even as a few airplanes pass in the distance (You can tell i live in the east) , I reminisce the nights i spent atop a king's size bed as if the world couldnt be bigger. With a tee tied to my head, I was throwing punches and kicks into the air, stopping every 5 minutes to roll across the bed in a haphazard fashion. All this I did with a boy named Frank.
We were mommy's best ninjas. I attribute our alter-egos too 1 too many viewings of Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles. Frequently spotting T-shirts that said" Batman", those were days where eating at burger king would have gotten you Batman iron ons, where a hundred dollars made you feel like you were a rich kiddo, Where my self made paper shoes were amusing and all I cared about were my collection of toys.
For I wouldnt be the Ninja I am today in my own right without Mom nor Dad.
I owe the world to them.
Growing up would have been half the fun without my fellow ninja boy too. Big brother.
thats my random lyric moment :)
Now, how about a Kodak moment?
*thinks hard*
pictures her dad with long hair, blue shirt and blue jeans. Spotting that as-cool-as-Ekin-Cheng look with his crisp shirt unbuttoned down mid chest. Gazing at a downward angle towards the camera, smiling knowingly.
He was probably about 23 then, I can't help but think to myself. That I too, would be 23 in half a years time.
For some reason I fell into the gallows of my own emotions.
The soulful voice of James Morrison is my only company at this hour, coupled with readings from a friends blog.
For I cannot remember the last time I spent such a substantial amount of time , reading off a blog.
It's the way people cope with their emotional loses that intrigues me, I find myself transported back to a space in time...

I woke up this morning feeling kind of blue
and I stumbled out of bed
and dragged my feet across the room
Right outside my front door was a rose
and a note that said 'Somebody Loves You'
But out on the street it starts to pour
and before I get soaking wet,
A total stranger runs to give me
the jacket off his back
I turn around to thank him
But he waves me with a smile
I can hardly believe my eyes
He puts on a halo and starts to fly
Take a look at the ordinary
Don't need to look at Paradise
You could be next to
an angel in disguise
I met a good friend for lunch
and we had a delicious meal
But I forgot to bring my wallet
I felt like an imbecile
But she was sweet, she gave me a treat and
Bought me a chicken sandwich
To take home for tea
But out on the street with nothing to eat
A man and his shopping cart go
Travelling to places,
Collecting social graces
I give him my sandwich
and we chatter for a while
I see a rainbow wash over his eyes
He gives me his halo and
I start to fly
Take a look at the ordinary
Don't need to look for Paradise
You could be next to an angel in disguise
Don't try to hide away from me
I know you're by my side
Take a look at the ordinary
Don't need to look for Paradise
You could be next to
an angel in disguise
Everyday can be legendary
Every minute, an endless surprise
You could be the next angel in disguise
I woke up this morning
Feeling kind of new.
Bliss to me is watching as the rain falls from my balcony , and a bit of corrinne may.
With all that Royce chocolates and Taittinger I am treated to while at work, no wonder there isnt time to blog.
Notably, I bumped into my boss over the weekend over at Dempsey Road, looking suave as usual.
I also read up on David Ogilvy's Biography ( my 2nd time) , God knows what's wrong with my memory....
I have on hand Mary Wells Lawrence's book titled A BIG LIFE.
after consciously afflicting harm on my eyes by entering 240 tedious entries into a database the whole afternoon on an aptly named database-the ORACLE .
I added insult to injury by managing 5 whole resumes tonight.
Also, within these 2 weeks, I found time to relive the childhood delight by visiting the zoo, only to be caught in between a 'fight' with some number of zookeepers pelting each other with eggs and manure. I reckon, if I found more then egg albumin on myself, I would have soured.
Then I did the whole Singapore Flyer thing, express tickets in tow to beat the winding queues us Singaporeans are most famously infamous for.
I am going to down some mango pudding and head to bed. Thats my utterly decadent lifestyle for you.
